This hands-on Power Bi training course is aimed at people who are familiar with the Office 365 environment, for whom Excel is their daily routine and who wish to share effective visuals of business data with members of their organisation.

Prerequisites

To follow this Power Bi training, it is mandatory to master the pivot table functionality of Excel

  • Import Excel tables, csv… in Power Bi desktop
  • Learn how to make data adaptations through Power Query
  • Know how to navigate between the 3 Excel/Power Query/Power Bi environments

Load data from Power BI

  • if necessary know how to adapt to data with Power Query

Transform data with power Query

  • Manage columns and rows to keep
  • Rename headers
  • Sort/Filter
  • Split columns
  • Group data (subtotals)
  • Adapt data types to analysis needs (+ automatic detection)
  • Create header row
  • Replace/Adapt Values
  • Make calculated operations
    • On Numbers (Stat, Rounding, Information…)
    • On Dates (Year, Birthday…)
  • Group columns to create structured data

Add columns operation with power Query

  • Adding column from selection
  • Adding custom columns
  • Column duplication
  • Format columns
  • Retrieve data from columns

Once the data is fully usable, upload it to Power Bi

The Report view

Once the data is prepared, learn to master the Fields, Visualizations, and Filters panes to create a visually appealing and dynamic presentation in Power BI
